Setting up Windows 2000

  1. Click on the Start button
  2. Click on Settings
  3. Click on Network and Dial-up Connections
  4. On the Network and Dial-Up Connections window, double-click the Make New Connection icon.
  5. Click on the Next button
  6. Choose the circle next to Dial-up to the Internet
  7. Click on the Next button
  8. Select the circle next to I want to connect to the internet manually....
  9. Click on the Next button
  10. Select I connect using a phone line and a modem
  11. Click on the Next button
  12. Type 775-7873 into the Telephone number box
  13. Uncheck Use area code and dialing rules
  14. Click on the Next button
  15. In the User name box, type your surfVI user name
  16. In the Password box, type your password
  17. Click on the Next button
  18. In the Connection name box, type surfVI
  19. Click on the Next button
  20. Select Yes
  21. Click on the Next button
  22. In the Display name box, type your surfVI user name
  23. Click on the Next button
  24. My incoming mail server is an imap server (you can also use POP3 if you like- just change your incoming mail server to pop.surfVI.com)
  25. The Incoming mail server is imap.surfVI.com
  26. The Outgoing mail server is smtp.surfVI.com
  27. Click on the Next button
  28. In the Account name box you should see your surfVI account name
  29. In the Password: box, type your password
  30. Click the Next button
  31. Uncheck the box next to Connect to the Internet immediately...
  32. Click on the Finish button
  33. In the Network and Dial-up Connections window, there should be a surfVI icon
  34. Click on Properties
  35. Click on the Networking tab at the top of the screen
  36. Click on the Settings button
  37. Uncheck the box next to Enable LCP extensions
  38. Uncheck the box next to Negotiate multi-link for single link connections
  39. Click OK- You’re finished!
